The Town Centre has seen the creation of a multi award-winning Cultural Quarter plus the installation of new public artworks, while our leading arts and entertainment venues – The Citadel Arts Centre and Theatre Royal – have both undergone extensive refurbishment over recent years to enhance their regional appeal.

The biggest new attraction in every sense is the internationally significant new public artwork by artist Jaume Plensa - Dream. This iconic regional landmark featured as part of Channel 4's Big Art Project on Channel 4 on 10th May 2009.

As the place where Stephenson’s Rocket won the Rainhill Trials, the home of the Vulcan Locomotive Works, and the former capital of the global glass industry, St.Helens has undoubtedly helped change and shape the modern world.

Discover our unique heritage at The World of Glass, a multi-award winning family attraction with spectacular multimedia and live glassblowing. The Northwest Museum of Road Transport is also a must see, thanks to one of the UK's biggest collection of vintage buses.
