The Godfrey Pilkington Art Gallery is the Borough’s premier visual arts showcase. Located in The World of Glass visitor attraction, the gallery is managed by St.Helens Council’s Arts Service, supported by the Rainford Trust and run in consultation with The Godfrey Pilkington Art Gallery Steering Group.
The community art gallery was officially renamed and re-launched in 2007 as The Godfrey Pilkington Art Gallery - in recognition of the generous and continued support of The Rainford Trust and, in particular, one of the trustees - Godfrey Pilkington.
An enthusiastic supporter of the arts locally, and regular member of the Open Art Competition judging panel, Godfrey passed away in 2007. However the diverse and stimulating array of art and craftwork exhibited in the gallery is an ongoing tribute to his enthusiasm and commitment to the visual arts.
Alongside an ever-changing exhibition programme, the gallery also runs a wide range of free events, from artist talks to exhibition preview evenings for both adults and children.
Entrance to the gallery is free.
Exhibitions
Each year the gallery stages a varied and engaging programme of visual art exhibitions, designed to appeal to a wide range of visitors - and support local and regional visual artists, art groups, clubs, schools and colleges.
The 2013 exhibition programme has yet to be finalised, so if you would like to apply to stage an exhibition please request a gallery application form.
For information on artists talks and workshops, to receive a gallery programme, then please telephone the Arts Service on 01744 675492 or Email: artsservice@sthelens.gov.uk
