Saints Announce Travel Schemes To Widnes
1st December 2010
ST HELENS RFC is delighted to announce two schemes to transport its loyal fans to the Stobart Stadium this coming season.
Supporters can take advantage of two bus services – saving ££ in the process – with under 16s Season Ticket Holders travelling FREE.
The schemes mean more fans can travel to Saints’ temporary home next season and forget about the hassle of finding parking spaces in Widnes.
And, all holders of child or junior season tickets (including that part of a family ticket) will travel free of charge.
Saints have teamed up with Arriva who, alongside their normal Widnes bus service, will provide a direct service from St Helens town centre to The Stobart Stadium in Widnes.
This prepaid service will pick up and terminate at Hall Street in St Helens with limited stops along the route – with the frequent service beginning three hours before kickoff and ending 45 minutes before kickoff.
After the final whistle, the service will operate from The Stobart Stadium in Widnes back to St Helens town centre with the last bus leaving an hour after the final whistle – giving fans plenty of time to enjoy their post match celebrations.
A special season ticket at £40 will be available to buy shortly from the Saints ticket office to travel on the bus.
The bus season ticket will also permit travel on any Arriva bus service from a journey start point within the borough on any scheduled service to Hall Street and return.
Saints have also teamed up with official transport provider Hattons Transport to provide an alternative service which covers the Eccleston, Town Centre and Clock Face areas of St Helens.
For just a £4 return ticket – available from the Saints ticket office in advance only – they will pick up in Eccleston, Birchley Street and Lea Green Station, all of which have free or minimal charge car parking facilities.
Debbie Thompson, Head of Commercial at Saints, said: “Working with our long standing partners, Arriva and Hattons Travel, we are delighted to be able to offer these real value for money services.
“They will make it easier to follow the Saints to our temporary home at the Stobart stadium and with free transport for the under 16s, there has never been a better time to buy a junior season ticket.”
Please note no cash will be taken on both services and full terms and conditions will be available in the New Year when tickets will be available to purchase.
Routes and services are subject to demand.
