Fir Tree Farm Launch Shuttle Bus Service to Farmers' Market

9th April 2010

Fir Tree Farm at King’s Moss has launched a fully accessible bus service to take people to their very popular Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday every month. The service will start at the next market on Saturday 17th April.

The bus service will pick up at the rear of The Glass House, Chalon Way West, St.Helens Town Centre (opposite the Keiron Cunningham statue) at 9.30am, 10.20am and 11.10am and deliver people right to the doorstep and return. This service is free of charge and has been provided by St Helens Community Transport.

On arrival customers can expect fantastic meat, pies, poultry, fish, chocolates, handmade soaps, freshly made bread, Lancashire Cheese and fudge – in fact a real taste of the region!

Alan Abbott, owner of Fir Tree Farm said “this service will enable many more people to enjoy excellent fresh produce from the local area which might otherwise not have been accessible to them”. On site is the farmshop itself together with Seasons Cafe (producing homemade meals using fresh ingredients), together with accessible facilities. The farmers market is under cover on a hard surface and is open between 9.30am and 2.00pm

Fir Tree Farm is a 35-hectare family farm run by Alan and Edwina Abbott who as their main philosophy, place an emphasis on conservation and the environment. The farm itself has a long history, the farmhouse itself dating back to 1704 and thus being granted Grade II listing. Built from local sandstone it is a traditional Lancashire farmhouse and features in several architectural guides.

Fir Tree Farm includes beautiful woodland walks, which features chain saw sculptures, a willow tunnel and a wildlife pond. All visitors will be tempted to visit the fantastic Farm Shop and Seasons Café & Restaurant, which sells local and regional produce and offers a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.
