10 year anniversary at the World of Glass

23rd June 2010

The biggest barcode in St.Helens will spell out the 10-year success story of The World of Glass.

The town’s award-winning visitor attraction is celebrating its tenth birthday by splashing the colourful 35-foot wide piece of contemporary art, called ' Now we are 10', across its windows.

An intriguing mix of colour and shape, the giant barcode alludes to the number of minutes, hours, weeks, months and years since The World of Glass was officially opened in July 2000.

The striking art work is part of a year-long programme to display "big art" in the windows of The World of Glass, and is the idea of the museum’s Executive Director Ron Helsby.

“The timings of St Helens Festival and Arts Festival were the perfect occasion to have it installed. It's also part of our ongoing commitment to help enhance the cultural profile of the town and to complement the success of the Dream” said Ron.
