Del Boy’s motor heads all-star cast of town centre events
14th September 2011
Del Boy’s famous Reliant Regal van lines up alongside the awesome Mitsubishi Eclipse from The Fast and the Furious movie in Church Square, St Helens this weekend. The two vehicles feature as part of the St Helens Classic Car Show - which showcases over 35 vehicles from all eras – on Saturday 17 September. The car show will be followed later in the month by a Traditional Market (Thursday 29 September to Saturday 1 October) in Church Street and a Medieval Market (Friday 30 September to Saturday 1 October) in Church Square. The Traditional Market conjures up a real taste of the continent, with a French bakery and cheeses, Spanish paella, German sausages, Italian biscuits and much, much more! The Medieval Market features demonstrations and displays reflecting key aspects of the history of St Helens and surrounding areas. On Friday 30 September a medieval music wagon and medieval falconer roll up to entertain shoppers, who will be able to find out about falconry and handle the birds under supervision. Saturday 1 October sees medieval combat displays with knights in full armour battling it out in a tournament throughout the day - providing a fascinating display of 15th century weaponry. There will also be demonstrations of candle making, basket weaving and woodworking and a host of children's activities, including medieval storytelling, pottery and purse making workshops and demonstrations of badge making and toy casting.
