Thousands braved the weather on Saturday to enjoy the sights and sounds of the St Helens International Festival in the town centre.
Wherever you looked there was something to see, as a mind-boggling array of street entertainers wound their way through the town’s main shopping areas.
The artists, from Europe, Africa and Asia and provided by Brouhaha International, the North West arts and cultural development agency - performed a vibrant mix of music, dance and street entertainment.
There were also art workshops for children to get involved in, while at Parish Church a poetry festival attracted scores of visitors.
“It was probably one of the biggest events we’ve ever staged in terms of numbers attending,” said Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Culture, Communications and Town Centre Councillor Barrie Grunewald.
“With so much to see and hear you couldn’t help but enjoy yourself. It was a great advert for the borough.”
In Victoria Square young music fans gathered for the VIBE urban music festival, headlined by ‘Tiny Dancer’ sensation DJ Ironik. He was supported by new music/dance TV stars Six – D, hip-hop favourites Aquablakk and Liverpool R’n’B favourites KOF and Chelcee Grimes among many others
The free event was organised by St.Helens Council in partnership with Radio City 96.7FM.
