Holy Cross Church is a Grade II listed building, built between 1860-62, this church is at the northern end of the George Street Conservation Area. The building & grounds have been refurbished as part of the George Street Cultural Quarter initiative.

The Foundation Stone of Holy Cross Church was laid, with much ceremony, two years before the opening day, by Fr Seed, SJ, Jesuit Provincial, on May 3rd 1860, the Feast of the Finding of the True Cross.
The Solemn Opening of the church took place on Thursday 1st May 1862.

Road Directions

From junction 23 off the M6, take the A580 towards Liverpool. Turn left off of the A580 onto the A571, signed for St. Helens.

From junction 7 off the M6 take the A570 towards St. Helens Town Centre, following the signs to the town centre.
